If there's no room for plastic bags, I suggest using reusable bags or tote bags for everyday use. It is durable and you can just wash it from time to time to sustain its cleanliness. Still, if you have those plastic bags at home, you can reuse it and just dispose it properly when you want to get rid of them.

The car closest to me has “Use me when you need me” on it. I really like the hidden connotations. :)

I totally agree that filling the edges of our suburban streets with cars does seem rather strange, when other alternatives are available (such as car share like City Hop). Newtown is a case in point as so few houses have garages and the problem is admittedly compounded by proximity to the hospital (staff and visitors reluctant to pay the car park costs fill adjacent streets with vehicles). I certainly would not like to try cycling up or down Mein St, as it must have the least allowance for cars and/or cycles of any major route in Wellington as the parked cars take up so much room. A City Hop pod in Newtown would be great - it would encourage less private ownership of cars, there would be less cars parked in the narrow streets and cycling would be more of alternative!

hi, we can get you cars from our sister company, JUCY that you can use for car share. Only snag is that they are based at the airport. Not sure your frequency for the car and whether this would work for you? If you found more people were interested we could put a car somewhere heandy. The Council was supportive - we just couldn't get enough interest when we were looking - but we love champions who build the network & are happy to help. Thank you

Hey this is great Victoria. My partner and I have just ditched our car and we've decided to blog about living carfree. I'm just researching a blog post of car share organisations in Christchurch (where we live) and NZ as a whole, so it's wonderful to come across Cityhop. How's it going in Christchurch for the scheme?
